Get a Free 542 Demo in Your Own Studio (via Access Analog)
It’s that time again: We’ve partnered with Access Analog to give you a free session with a pair of 542 Tape Emulators, right in your own studio, through the technological wizardry of their Analog Matrix plugin*.
The 542 delivers a wide variety of elusive analog tones using a carefully crafted tape emulation circuit built around a custom interstage transformer, coupled with a soft-clipper that can tame the harshest sources, our unique variable Silk circuit, and a Blend control to finalize exacting amounts of saturation.
Try it on drums, guitars, vocals, bass, synths, or even your mix bus: from pristine hi-fi tape effects to gloriously saturated vintage warmth, the 542 is the perfect antidote for anything that sounds too clean or “digital”.
*Of course, we encourage you to contact your favorite RND dealer for a demo in real life too, but this is a pretty neat & easy way to try one out in the meantime.
Stream real-time audio to a pair of robotically-controlled 542 Tape Emulators using the Analog Matrix Plugin, courtesy of Access Analog and Rupert Neve Designs.
The Analog Matrix plugin remotely controls the physical knobs, buttons, and switches on the audio hardware, and also displays the hardware’s metering. Robotics are attached to each control and precisely track changes made in the plugin user interface, as well as all control automation created within the host audio application.

Can I see the robotics?
We don’t have any photos of the specific robotics for the 542s, but here’s a time-lapse showing the installation of the Access Analog robotics on a Master Bus Transformer, our original announcement video explaining how it all works, and some more photos of the MBT robotics.
Here’s that MBT in Colorado, shown with robotics mounted to the faceplate.
