The 5254 and a Panic! At The Disco Session
Producer Jake Sinclair (Weezer, Fall Out Boy, 5 Seconds Of Summer) was recently at the legendary United Recording Studios in Hollywood working on the highly-anticipated new Panic! At The Disco album ‘Viva Las Vengeance’ (the first single just dropped today), and he got in touch to let us know that their rented Fairchild was “demoted to dog’s bed” when they got their hands on a 5254 Dual Diode Bridge Compressor.
“The new 5254 retains the signature ‘clamp’ of the beloved 2254 while being more more flexible thanks to its expanded parameters. It was exactly what we needed to glue together our mixes on the latest all-analog Panic! At The Disco recordings.”
The quote and photos (below) from Jake were great, of course – but the best part was when he later sent us this video featuring Panic! at the Disco’s own Brendon Urie on voiceover duty:
Special thanks to Rachel White (and Claire, Jake’s dog) for starring in the video, to Brendon for the “movie trailer voice” VO work, to Jake and Claudius for using our gear, and to L.A. Exes for the great song.
Clockwise from upper left: Rachel White (engineer / L.A. Exes guitarist); the 5254; Jake Sinclair (producer) and Claudius Mittendorfer (mixer); Claire (Jake’s dog).
