New User Guides: MBT and Shelford Channel

Any new piece of equipment has a learning curve: some curves are gentle, some quite steep. With that in mind, we’re always trying to find ways to help get you familiar with your new RND gear.

A few years ago we began creating ‘Quick Start’ videos to provide an overview of all front and rear panel controls and connections, and we’re still adding to that library. You can watch them all here.

But a number of our customers have also requested presets, templates, and tips & tricks. We get it – templates can certainly be useful when exploring a new piece of gear. But we encourage you to think of them merely as inspiration, not blueprints. There’s nothing wrong with processing to the extreme or not processing at all, as long as the sound you achieve serves the music well.

With that in mind, we’ve begun creating ‘User Guides’ for some of our most popular equipment, starting with the Shelford Channel and the Master Bus Transformer. Inside, you’ll find templates for various sources and sounds, an overview of the unit functions, and “best practice” tips for handling compression, equalization, gain staging, and more.

We hope these are a useful resource when exploring your new equipment, or when deciding if an MBT or Shelford Channel is the right tool for you to purchase. Enjoy!
