Customer Spotlight: DEE

Kurt Van Der Beeken has been working for DEE as a freelance sound engineer for more than 20 years, and for the last 9 has managed their digital consoles and outboard gear. He initially reached out to us about adding DEE to our Rupert Neve Rentals map, and was then kind enough to do this Customer Spotlight piece with us.

Would you please tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?

We are a Belgian company that provides full service for festivals, international concert or theater tours, broadcast and recording studios. We mainly specialize in the rental of digital consoles with the necessary outboard equipment for major artists and bands, as well as concert halls.

How did DEE start?

The company was started in 1985 by André Schneider who is still the owner. The first years it was mainly local but has quickly grown into an important player in the Belgian audio and light rental sector and has grown to the international market.

What are some of the biggest changes you’ve seen in the live sound market over the past few years?

The transition from analog to digital consoles. We went along quickly with this and, for example, purchased one of the first Midas XL8.

Have you noticed analog gear being requested more often?

Yes, the last few years has really grown seriously with the demand. Most mixers want to transfer the studio mix completely to the live mix with the same material used in the studio. By being active for many years, we have collected a lot of analog equipment!

Why do you stock so much Rupert Neve Designs equipment?

We strive to have the best material and due to the demand of our international customers it was necessary to add this to our catalog.

Do you have a particular favorite piece of RND gear?

The 5045 PRIMARY SOURCE ENHANCER is a really great tool, this in combination with a SHELFORD CHANNEL. There is no better money channel!!
