5088 Updates: Spring 2025

Our flagship 5088 console hasn’t changed much since it first began shipping around 2007 – and that’s by design. It’s a console built to last for decades, with no planned obsolescence or shiny-but-time-sensitive features.

However, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t changed at all: since then we’ve occasionally redesigned a few bits to make it even more reliable, even more flexible, and even easier to maintain – but this spring we’ve taken it one step further.

For the first time since the introduction of the original Shelford 5051 and Shelford 5052 modules in 2015, we’ve added two new penthouse module options: the Shelford 5053 and the 5022. Read on for all the details on these new modules; and when you’re ready to get in front of a 5088 yourself, please get in touch with us.

Shelford 5053 Transformer Gain Mic Pre / EQ

Building upon the massive success of both the 5052 and the Shelford Channel, the Shelford 5053 Penthouse module provides 5088 clients with a sonic imprint that more closely resembles Rupert Neve’s iconic vintage consoles.

With an additional custom Rupert Neve Designs transformer – which specifically provides the first 15dB of mic pre gain – the 5053’s input section is virtually identical to the wildly popular Shelford Channel, allowing the 5088 to achieve new levels of rich, vintage-style coloration.

5022 Dual Mic Pre

The 5022 was designed to maximize the amount of inputs available in one 5088 Penthouse Module by providing two class-A, electronically balanced mic preamps, 2 variable high pass filters, and a variable Silk / Texture control for each channel.

Coupled with Stereo Input Channel modules, the 5022 lets you pack even more into a smaller 5088 frame size, further expanding the flexibility and versatility of the desk.
