An Evelyn Neve Profile, in honor of International Women’s Day

Rupert and Evelyn Neve.

We talk a lot about Rupert Neve for obvious reasons, but someone we don’t speak of often enough is his wife Evelyn – so let’s take a moment to do just that.

Born in 1929 in Murree, India, Evelyn was a British citizen raised in what is now Pakistan. She came to the UK around WWII and originally trained as a primary school teacher, meeting and marrying Rupert in 1951.

Evelyn was a mother to five children, and had nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She worked alongside Rupert in the early days of his businesses, and later became chair of the Bible Society charity in London, then the chair of the Women’s Guild at the Chapel in the Hills after the Neves moved to Wimberley, TX.

She was also one of the co-founders of Rupert Neve Designs, and in fact wrote the company’s mission statement:

“Dedicated to harnessing hidden powers of human creativity in electronics, magnetism and sound to enable music to encompass the earth with harmony and joy.”

– Evelyn Neve, 1/3/07

In 2022, Evelyn passed away at the age of 93. She was a wonderful, kind woman, and we will always think of her dearly.
