For this month’s exclusive SOS competition, we’ve teamed up with Rupert Neve Designs to offer you the chance to win not one but two top‑tier pieces of studio hardware.
The RND Newton Channel is a powerful modern channel strip born from a legendary sonic lineage. Its intuitive design provides classic sound on demand, with all the instantly recognisable character, musical tone‑shaping abilities, and proven reliability that define Rupert Neve Designs gear.
The name is a nod to Rupert’s birthplace — Newton Abbot, England — and reflects the sonic journeys of his life: from Newton Abbot to Wimberley, vintage to modern, and everything in between. This is a truly versatile, world‑class channel strip capable of bringing any source to life with the classic sound of Rupert Neve Designs.
The Newton Channel includes a fully Class‑A mic preamp, a musical three‑band discrete EQ section, a fast and flexible VCA compressor, and custom Rupert Neve Designs transformer‑coupled outputs, featuring the company’s trademark Red and Blue Silk circuitry.
As if that wasn’t enough, RND are also providing their premium mono DI box, the RNDI‑M. The RNDI‑M boasts the exact same custom Rupert Neve Designs transformers and discrete FET input stage as the company’s best‑selling RNDI, RNDI‑S and RNDI‑8 units, in a rugged and compact chassis. The RNDI‑M offers a superlative input stage for electric guitars and basses, synthesizers, keyboards, piezo pickups, or any other instrument‑level source. The discrete, Class‑A circuit topology is built around Mr Rupert Neve’s custom transformers, resulting in outstanding sonic performance from below 5Hz all the way up to well beyond 90kHz. It can handle input levels up to +20.5dBu, while the low‑impedance, transformer‑coupled output stage can drive long lines with minimal signal loss.”
